Chennai, India
– Nissan Motor India has unveiled ambitious export plans, positioning the country as a pivotal manufacturing and distribution hub under its global "One Car, One World" strategy. This month, the automaker will dispatch 2,000 units of its popular Magnite SUV to left-hand drive (LHD) markets across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia Pacific. By February 2025, Nissan aims to ship over 10,000 LHD Magnite units worldwide, including 5,100 vehicles bound for Latin American markets such as Mexico.

India’s Rising Strategic Role

Guillaume Torres, Nissan’s Region Divisional Vice President of Business Transformation (AMIEO), emphasized India’s growing influence in the company’s global framework. “With LHD exports now underway, India joins the UK as Nissan’s largest export hub within the AMIEO region,” Torres stated. “This underscores India’s potential not just as a market, but as a critical driver of our international growth.”

The move aligns with Nissan’s broader vision to streamline production and distribution, leveraging India’s cost-efficient manufacturing ecosystem to meet rising global demand.

Domestic Growth and Future-Ready Innovations

While bolstering exports, Nissan remains laser-focused on strengthening its foothold in India’s competitive automotive market. Torres confirmed that previously announced plans, including the launch of a new electric vehicle (EV) by FY26, are progressing on schedule. However, the company is exploring additional measures to accelerate growth.

“We’re studying hybrid and CNG powertrains to diversify our offerings alongside EVs,” Torres revealed. “Moreover, we’re finalizing plans to expand our lineup with new models, which we aim to announce soon.”

FY26 Targets: Tripling Sales and Exports

Nissan’s FY26 roadmap targets tripling annual domestic sales and exports to 100,000 units each. Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, reaffirmed this commitment, stating, “The LHD Magnite’s export milestone highlights India’s role as a manufacturing powerhouse. We’re dedicated to supporting our dealers, partners, and customers here while driving global innovation.”

Global Merger Talks: No Impact on India Operations

Addressing speculation around Nissan’s ongoing merger discussions with Honda, Torres clarified that the dialogue remains at a global level. “It’s too early to comment on specifics, but India’s strategic importance remains unchanged,” he asserted. “As one of the world’s fastest-growing markets, India will only see expanded investments and positive outcomes from our plans.”

A Vision Beyond Borders

Nissan’s dual focus on localized growth and global scalability reflects a calculated bet on India’s automotive prowess. By integrating sustainable technologies like EVs, hybrids, and CNG, the company aims to cater to evolving consumer preferences while cementing its position as a leader in cross-border automotive innovation.

As shipments of the Magnite roll out to Latin America and beyond, Nissan’s strategy signals a new era for India’s automotive sector—one where domestic manufacturing prowess fuels global aspirations.
